We gave Quiltcraft some tough due dates for our renovation season and you came through with what you said you could do, when you said you could do it! Kudos to you all. — Karen Holland, Accor North America
Founded in 1962 the original Motel 6 located in Santa Barbara, California, still leaves the light on for guests today but a lot has changed for the motel chain that pioneered the first real economy motel designed for the no‐frills traveler. The original price of a night’s stay was just $6.00, and thus es‐ tablished the brand name for the American classic. Over 1,000 locations and 102,000 rooms later Motel 6 has decided to rebrand the look of their guestrooms with the new Phoenix pack‐ age. “As the first of its kind, this new property represents a big step for Accor in the continued growth and development of the Motel 6 Brand,” said Olivier Poirot, CEO, Accor North America. “We’re happy to unveil the complete new look that guests can expect of Motel 6 as we continue our aggressive plans to implement this exciting new design and high standard.” The Phoenix package was approved in March 2008 and 50 properties have been renovated to date. Motel 6 remains a household name, synonymous with quality and value, and enjoys the highest brand recognition fac‐ tor of any economy lodging brand.
